first_imgDonnis Slusser CraneSubmitted to Sumner Newscow — On Monday, October 27, Donnis Slusser Crane, author, genealogist, and professional storyteller, will present the program “Footprints to Land Records” to the Sumner County Historical and Genealogical Society members and guests at the Good Taste Chinese Buffet meeting room, 1311 E. 16th, Wellington.  The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.; the meal at 5:30 p.m..A storyteller since she was three years old, Crane will share her expertise at locating family information and connecting the genealogy dots with her listeners in a fun and easy to understand way.Crane will share with listeners a brief history of land records, plus the methods that she uses for using Census Records to help find their family’s land, a process that makes locating and “plowing through court house records” easy, tips on how to read an abstract, how to map an ancestor’s land, and what those township, range, and section numbers all mean.The author of several books, including “Land Records – Step by Step – find your ancestor’s land”, “Josie – A Pioneer Girl: Late 1800’s – Life through the eyes of an American homesteading family”, and “These Kaleidoscope Hills”, Short stories in early 20th Century in the Ozark, co-authored with sister Lonetta Bartell, Crane will bring along books that the audience can purchase.Follow us on Twitter.
