first_img FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailMILWAUKEE-Star Brigham Young University men’s tennis player Sean Hill, a Wake Forest transfer, advanced to the round of 32 during the first day of action at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic hosted by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.Hill, who came into the tournament seeded 13th overall, prevailed against Virginia Commonwealth’s Inigo Torre Martin 6-3, 6-4.Hill, a native of Berkeley, Calif., next draws Will Davies of Iowa. He will also compete in doubles, with teammate Jeffrey Hsu against a team from the University of Illinois-Champaign.The Utah State women’s tennis team is also at this tournament with all Aggies in action losing their matches.These included Sidnee Lavatai’s loss to Syracuse’s Gabriela Knutson 2-6, 2-6. Additionally, Alexandra Pisareva fell 0-6, 3-6 to Florida Atlantic’s Natalia Boltinskaya and Gabrielle Dekkers fell 3-6, 2-6 to Oklahoma State’s Catherine Gulihur and Hannah Jones fell 2-6, 7-5, 5-7 to Viktoriya Dzyuba of Lipscomb.The tournament resumes Friday for both the Cougars and Aggies.
