first_imgMore of this on the wayA WEATHER warning has been issued for ice tonight – and snow tomorrow in parts of County Donegal.The BBC in the North says there is an ice warning overnight tonight, until around 9am.They’ve issued an ice warning for roads in the west of Ulster. And they are also predicting snow, mainly on higher ground at this stage, for later on Friday.Met Eireann says the weather is turning unsettled and colder over the weekend with scattered showers and sunny spells.Some of the showers could turn thundery with hail and wintry showers on higher ground with frost and ice developing by night, particularly in more sheltered regions.FRIDAY NIGHT: will turn very cold with widespread frost and scattered showers will be of hail or sleet, possibly snow on higher ground as minimum temperatures fall to between -2 and +2 degrees. SATURDAY: will be cold and blustery day with scattered showers. Showers will be most frequent and heavy across the western half of the country, some will turn to hail and sleet, with the risk of thunder. Highest temperatures of just 6 to 8 degrees in a fresh westerly breeze. Saturday night, showers will mainly continue in the west and north, with some sleet or snow possible on high ground. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +2 degrees with frost and icy patches, especially in sheltered spots. Winds moderate but turn northwesterly.SUNDAY: will continue to be cold with scattered showers and good sunny spells. Showers will become isolated and dry out later. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in a moderate northwesterly breeze which will ease later.
